Eric Richards has taken this wonderful old standard and given it an exciting samba setting that makes it thoroughly contemporary and fresh! Tenor and trumpet roll out the melody and then other melodic and background parts are layered in making it a dense harmonic palette for the whole band. There’s a unique a cappella break that’s almost fugal in structure and open solos galore. Great ensemble and small group playing opportunities abound. This is one cool chart!
